Four methods to help you make rock solid decisions
Last week I wrote an article summarising five mental models designed to help with making decisions.
It generated some discussion so I wanted to write a follow-up article around some methods to help with that decision-making. Think of this as a sister article if you like.
The two are meant to go hand-in-hand and can hopefully be used together.
The thing is that we face decisions every day — whether that’s in work or our personal life. Often, we make a choice based on guesswork or a gut feeling, but there is a more scientific approach that can help us treat decision-making as a skill. And, with practice, we can master a skill.
With that in mind, here are some methods that can take the indecision out of your decisions and, hopefully, equip you with the right knowledge to move forward in your projects.
OODA Loop (for quick decisions)
The OODA Loop has a military background. It was originally developed by the military strategist, US Air Force Colonel John Boyd in the mid-20th century.
Its initial aim was to train soldiers to make quick decisions accurately when there may not be time to gather all the relevant information.
