Hey — thanks for reading and really appreciate you getting in touch. So I guess the first thing to say is that the ability to transcribe a section of a podcast, is a real game changer so thanks for the work so far. Plus the ability to edit those sections before exporting them is hugely useful.

Having said that:

  • The transcriptions aren’t always accurate, so (as part of the workflow above). I’m guessing this is something you’re always working on but, in terms of the workflow above, I nearly always have to go through all my snippets to re-write words (or in the worst case scenario) a couple of sentences before I export them. It’s not just that the incorrect word has been picked up, it’s often that the word the app has generated doesn’t even exist so it’s important to through what has been picked up or I won’t be able to understand the snippet when I come back to it later on. It’s worth it for the opportunity to capture snippets in Obsidian, but it does lengthen the process a fair bit.
  • I don’t really understand the benefit of the “summary” in the export. It seems to largely be a mirror of the snippet I’m exporting — so it ends up being fairly long (and generally repeated in the snippet immediately below). A genuine quick two line summary of my export would be really helpful, but I’ve turned it of as things currently stand.

And in terms of a couple of “nice-to-have’s”

  • The ability to edit the Obsidian template which is exported would be really helpful.
  • I think Airr offer some functionality which shortens the length of text captured based on the length of the button press. i.e. if I just tap the “Snip” button, it would only capture the last 5/10 seconds rather than the last 30 seconds.
  • I’d love Carplay functionality because I do a lot of my listening while driving which means I can’t really use Snip’d while in the car as things currently stand.

Hope that helps — if you need any more info at all, then feel free to drop me a line. Would love to help as much as I can, as podcasts are such a key source for my data collection.
