Unless I’m missing something, you don’t need a Shortcut to do this. You can set Obsidian up to create a new Daily Note (with a naming convention and template) the first time that you open up Obsidian on any given day.

It’s in Settings > Daily Notes, if memory serves right. I’m not in front of my screen atm!
