The subscriptions that didn’t survive my recent cull
Disclaimer: I work in the Apple ecosystem. This article is based on subscriptions that I paid for in the App Store and may not be available on other platforms.
A few weeks ago, I wrote an article on how I had decided to take control of the amount I was spending on app subscriptions every year. The resulting cull left me with five core apps that I was still happy to pay for.
Having had a few questions about the subscriptions that I had been using previously, this is a quick follow-up to highlight those apps which didn’t survive the cull and ended up saving me over £275 this year.
As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback.
Bear (£13.99/year)
Through no fault of its own, Bear fell out of my subscription list as a result of my move to Obsidian. I had been using Bear for around three years and loved the design of the app, along with how easy it was to use.
I enjoyed its tag-based way of categorising notes and it introduced me to the power and flexibility of Markdown.
As I started playing with Obsidian though, I came to realise the power of bidirectional linking and loved the development work that was being done by the community to help the app grow at breakneck speed.
